Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator’s Save On Energy Affordability Program will allow income eligible applicants to receive free cold climate air source heat pumps, complete with installation and warranties. The Energy Affordability Program is open to those who access programs like Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), or who have a household income below certain levels.
These air source heat pumps will be available to homes that are currently served by an electric heating system such as electric baseboards. Homeowners and renters can both qualify, however renters must pay their own electricity bills already, and get consent from the property’s owner.
