|A recent application has been received by the City for an Official Plan amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment to permit the development of a 26-storey (86 metre) mixed-use building on the properties known as 1335 and 1339 Bank St. This is at the corner of Riverside Drive and Bank St.
My office will be hosting an online public meeting to allow the applicant the opportunity to present their concept on September 29 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The City Planner attached to the file and my Council colleague Shawn Menard are also planning to attend. While this property falls within the borders of Alta Vista, it will also certainly have an impact on residents living in Capital Ward on the other side of Bank St. and in Old Ottawa South.
The applicant for 1335 Bank St. has also developed a website of their own, 1335BankStreet.ca, where residents can view concept designs and engage directly with the developer. I’m curious to see how this pro-active engagement strategy unfolds, but want to be very clear that any comments or conversations which take place through this website will not necessarily be considered by the City of Ottawa Planning File lead who is writing the city report which will go to Planning Committee.
