Beginning on Monday, November 04, the City will begin rehabilitating a culvert on Alta Vista Drive near the intersection of Valour Drive.

Who: The City of Ottawa has retained the Contractor, Clean Water Works, to complete the work.

Why: The culvert requires rehabilitation due to its age and condition.

What: Work will include sewer rehabilitation using a Cured-In-Place repair process. This is a No-Dig rehabilitation technique minimizing much of the inconveniences usually associated with conventional road and sewer excavation work.

There is also one manhole on Alta Vista Drive which will be removed. This work will cause one lane to be closed on Alta Vista Drive.

When: Rehabilitation work will start on November 04 and should be completed within approximately 3 days. Once the work has started, the operation will be continuous throughout the day and night. Please note this work and schedule is weather dependant and may have to be delayed or extended beyond the identified timeframe.

The contractor will return on November 11 to remove the manhole on Alta Vista Drive. This work will be completed in 5 days.

Where: The storm culvert is located on Alta Vista Drive near the intersection of Valour Drive.

Construction Disruptions

The Contractor will take every precaution to minimize interruptions to the everyday life of your family and/or operation of your business, but, as you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the course of the work, such as traffic delays, parking restrictions, noise, and odour. We would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation.

Potential Detection of Odour

As a result of the synthetic resin used for curing culvert lining material, odours are emitted during construction. The resin product being used may have odours similar to plastic or glue. Generally, these odours are confined within close proximity to the sewer; however, there is a potential that you may notice them indoors, within the vicinity to the construction area. If you smell odours, please open all possible windows and call one of the contacts noted below should you require assistance.

Contact Information

As part of this contract, the Contractor is assuming full responsibility for the construction work until it is entirely complete as well as any damages to private property resulting from these construction activities. In the event of such occurrences, all claims for damages should be immediately reported both verbally and in writing to the Contractor’s Representative and to the Contract Administrator.
