As some of you may already be aware, for the past week, I have been planning a broader community meeting with regard to safety, and I am now able to provide further details.
Tuesday February 20th.
Ste-Geneviève Church (lower level hall)
6:30 to 8PM
People and organizations that have been invited include:
· Mayor Jim Watson
· Ottawa Police Services
· Crime Prevention Ottawa
· Neighbourhood Watch
· South East Ottawa Community Health Centre
· Ottawa Community Housing
· Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
· Big Brothers and Sisters
· By-law Services
· Ottawa Public Health
· Somali Centre for Family Services
· Options Bytown
· Pathway Patrol
The subject of this meeting is the recent shootings that we’ve seen in the Canterbury and Elmvale Acres area. I believe that a community meeting with the aforementioned resources will be valuable, since this is an issue about which residents feel a particular lack of control. No doubt, there will be attendees who will want to discuss their personal instances with regard to break and enters, motor vehicle thefts, assaults etc. as well as the general state of the city
The format of the evening is a resource fair, followed by a presentation and a Q & A to provide residents the opportunity to express themselves with regard to shootings and other crimes.
Agenda and details to follow.
