This year’s summit provides a platform for the ongoing dialogue needed to achieve equitable transportation in Ottawa. The summit will provide an opportunity for professionals, decision makers and residents to come together to learn about and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing equitable transportation in Ottawa.
The Transportation Equity Summit on September 22 at Ottawa City Hall, will provide attendees with panel presentations covering the following themes:
- Prioritizing equity in transportation planning,
- social housing and other promising practices in transportation equity,
- challenges in public transportation, and
- grassroots participation
Within these themes, the topics include the concept of equity and why it’s important; the City of Ottawa building an equitable transportation system; Winnipeg, Manitoba, Toronto, Ontario, and Portland, Oregon case studies and promising practices; parking and low-income housing policies; walkability of the city; public transportation for all ages and abilities; and accessible, public washrooms.
Whether you are an affected resident, a decision-maker, student, or you work in a field where you see the impact on marginalized populations, you will contribute to and benefit from participating in the Summit.
